BEAUTIFUL SIGNS OF SPRING......designs by Vicki Romaine

This month our design team is looking toword Spring and all it's beautiful colors. Below are some samples by
VICKI ROMAINE

CREATE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES

The GG image is placed on a textured piece of green designer paper.  At the top are three stones which bring out the gold trim that has been placed on the corners of the image and the gold flower trim at the bottom.  The sentiment was made from words in a Tim Holtz pad.

Unseen Card
A designer paper of foreign buildings with spires is being used as a mat.  A texture piece of sold green designer paper is directly under the GG image.  In the corner is a rub-on scrollwork.  The sentiment was made from words on a digital paper I had in my stash.

FLOWER GARDEN CARD

I made the background on this card a while back using a Gelli plate and stencils.  It was so dark that I couldn't figure out how to use it.  I decide to brighten the mat up by using small pictures  of flowers and as an added touch of Spring I also included the bicycle image.  he images are from the Flower Garden 1 & 2  collage sheets.

Lucky In the Garden Shrine

Supplies
Small house shaped shrine box – I created mine using Tim Holtz Altered Dwellings and Rectangles Alterations dies
Image from In the Garden collage set
Sentiment from Beautiful Words collage set

Book pages
Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss Distress Inks
Picket Fence Distress Stain or Ink
Beeswax
Bronze Mica Powder
Ivory organza rose trim
Paper sunflowers
Corrugated card
Chunky gold glitter
Flowersoft
Number sticker

How to

Apply the image to the inside of the shrine. Using a brush, add blobs and drips of melted beeswax around the edge of the image. Sprinkle on a little of the glitter whilst the wax is still warm (melt with a heat gun if needed) Stick organza rose trim to the sides and base of the inside of the shrine.

Cover the outside of the shrine with torn book pages. Use a sponge to colour the pages with distress inks. You don’t  need to be too careful as this won’t be seen. Allow to dry or dry with a heat gun.
Apply a layer of melted beeswax over the outside. Using a heat gun once the wax is applied can help to smooth out any brush marks. Gradually build up beeswax towards the edges of the shrine.
Once the wax is dry, brush on a little mica powder. Buff with a dry cloth.

Cut a strip of corrugated card to go along the bottom of the shrine. Apply white distress stain or ink to give the appearance of a picket fence. When dry, add the sentiment.

Attach the sunflowers to the side of the shrine and glue the number to the roof.

To finish, apply glue randomly to the “fence” and add flowersoft.
