So each month we give you a glimps inside the creative mind of one of our Design stars and in April we would like to introduce another fantastic member to you, Lisette Baker. Here is just a wee little bit about her
How long have you been paper crafting?
I’ve
dabbled in paper crafting forever and started making cards about 10 years ago
but it’s since I started blogging 18 months ago that I got drawn in hook, line
and sinker!
What is your favorite kind of projects to do?
Mmm,
that’s hard because I love it all. I love doing little miniature scenes and
boxes but I also like getting inky and stamping.
In the industry who do you most admire and
why?
Another
toughie as there are so many talented and inspirational crafters. Like everyone
else you can’t help but love Tim Holtz as he has done so much to change the
face of paper crafting. However, as a Brit I have to big up my two favourite
crafting goddesses – Hels Sheridan and Dyan Reavely. I’ve been lucky enough to
do workshops with both of them and their work is amazing.
What brands (besides Gecko Galz) do you enjoy
working with?
All
the Ranger/Tim Holtz products, Dylusions and at the moment I’m into stamps by
Darkroom Door. Ooh an I have to give Really Reasonable Ribbon a mention, I wish
they had a base in the UK!
What is the one thing in your crafting tote
that you cannot live without?
Some
sort of Distress Ink – it’s so versatile.
Where have you been published?
As
yet, nowhere L I never dreamed that I would start a blog or
be on a design team. I plan to give getting published some serious attention
this year.
What is the best thing about being on the
Gecko Galz Design team?
Aside
from the absolutely brilliant products it’s been getting to know the other DT
galz and I absolutely LOVED the blog hop, it was so exciting I can’t wait ‘til
this years.
What is your favorite scrapbook shop and where
is it located?
I
get most of my stash on-line especially via our TV craft channel – Create &
Craft. However, I love visiting Art from the Heart (Dyan Reaveley’s shop) which
isn’t too far away.
How would you describe your crafting style?
Eclectic.
I see other crafters and you know it’s their work because they have a
distinctive style and I don’t see that in myself. I dabble in everything and am
always playing with different styles and techniques.
If you could have a job in the crafting world
what would it be and why?
Virtually
anything, I would love to have a job connected in crafting in some way. I guess
that as I am a teacher and demonstrator (not crafting) by profession, teaching
and demonstrating craft would seem a natural step…if only…*sigh*
